WHAT FAITH LEADERS ARE SAYING…
Why does LACFA Exist?
With a population of over 10 Million people, LA County is in crisis with ever increasing homelessness, poverty, numbers of children in foster care, mental health disorders, food insecurity, and incarceration. County departments recognize the critical role that we, as the faith community, play in serving individuals and families in need and are eager to work with us for solutions. Several departments including the Department of Children and Family Services, Department of Mental Health, Alternatives to Incarceration, and Homeless Services are already working closely with some in the faith community to provide vital services but the need is profound and the faith community vast. With a more diverse and unified approach, our impact will be multiplied.
With the amount of both opportunity and need at hand, it has become overwhelmingly apparent that it is vital that the faith community organize and mobilize under one banner for the greatest effectiveness. As leaders in the faith community we understand how interconnected many of these issues are and are committed to seeing holistic and lasting efforts that cross department lines. We want our efforts to be strategic, effective, and sustainable. This can only be done through a unified approach, where everyone is at the table and not siloed off between departments.
We believe that together we are stronger, and it is the responsibility of the faith community to lead in caring for our most vulnerable populations.
There are over 4,000 faith communities across LA County. Although the need in our county is great, our resounding and unified “yes” to love and serve the people of Los Angeles County is even greater.
Together we bring impact.
Together we bring solutions.
Together we bring hope.
Together is our greatest strength.
